About Robert

Hi and welcome to Robert Radifera Photography. There are some important things you should know about me. Mainly, I have been shooting professionally since 1993 when I graduated from college with a degree in Fine Arts. I was one of those kids who majored in Economics, following in my father’s footsteps into the banking business, but after spending a year in Paris, called home to inform my parents that I was changing my major to Art. That’s right, a switch from Economics to Art (with a minor in French). I had to follow my heart and I am glad I did.

In 2003 I earned a Master’s Degree in computer science and began to meld my love of art, photography and all things technical. I am a computer nerd (but one with superlative people skills) and have found this to be a huge asset in the age of digital photography. So yes, this means I can take your portrait and fix your computer in the same visit. My photographic style is simple. I like to focus on capturing people’s expressions and personalities in the moment. I have a knack for putting people at ease, which is incredibly helpful when photographing a bride getting ready for her big day.

You may also like to know, but probably don’t need to know, that I love to cook (jerk chicken is my specialty), play the piano, compose, sing, and perform magic tricks. I may be one of two half Jamaican, half Malagasy people in the world (the other being my big brother). I am also married with two little girls. Seems my daughters’ lot in life is to be perpetual models for their Dad. Thanks for taking the time to look at my site and my work.

"Our family has had two family shoots with Robert and he photographed my sister's wedding.  Robert's easy-going manner and ability to relate to our entire family made each of our photo sessions a true pleasure.  Robert captured all the shots we "thought" we wanted, but in the end, his uncanny ability to truly capture each member of our family left us marveling over the photos that we didn't even know were possible!  We know that we will be working with Robert for years to come."

"Robert is an incredibly gifted artist. He has an eye for light and contrast, and his composition fascinates. He goes to great length to capture the spontaneity of the subject in genuine moments rather than trying to orchestrate them. He has a wonderful rapport with his subjects and is fantastic with children, even taming our wild boys into little angels. We look forward to working with Robert for years to come!" -Amy Sue

"As our wedding day approached, Alan and I were pulled in 1001 different directions. Luckily, we did not have to worry one stitch about our wedding photography. We had chosen Robert Radifera almost one year prior to our ceremony and he immediately put our minds at ease. He initially met us at the site for our ceremony and impressed us with his questions and thoughtful suggestions. He seemed truly interested in producing not just a product, but a future family treasure. After that meeting, Alan and I were convinced that Robert would provide us with photographs that captured the spirit of the day and the individual personalities of our loved ones. On the day of the wedding, Robert only added to the joyful atmosphere. His laidback and easy-going style enabled us to enjoy time with our family and friends. However, his jovial and good-natured spirit relaxed those around him, including a frantic father-of-the-bride who could not find his shoes. The most amazing aspect of Robert's style is his ability to mix with people and capture candid photographs that would otherwise escape the staid, cookie-cutter photographer. I would recommend Robert to any bride and groom who do not want to worry about their photographer, but still seek someone who can convey in pictures the joyousness of the day."

"Robert is an amazing photographer! Not only does he produce magical photographs time and time again, but he is a delight to work with. He has a way with working with both adults and children and making everyone feel comfortable and joyous. His work never goes unnoticed--whether it is a black and white wedding print displayed in our home, in video form on my business website, or family portrait holiday greeting card. It is always an honor to be in his presence and his photographs deliver memories filled with life and emotion for a life time."
